The works of playwright-novelist James M.Barrie (1860-1937) have delighted both young and old for a century. From Childhood he was determined to be a writer. "Alice Sit-by-the-Fire" was written by J.M. Barrie in 1905, the same year he wrote Peter Pan). The three-act play details the return of two parents, the Colonel & his wife Alice, from (I believe) a long voyage to India. They have left the care of their three children Amy, Cosmo and the baby to the Nurse. Alice finds Amy & Cosmo have grown up considerably; and the baby is a complete stranger to her mother. The possessive Nurse complicates the reunion. The play is a series of reversals and revelations. Misadventure follows in abundance.
