There's a lot of things that happen in this episode. Does our team make it to the astral plane? Yes. Is there a ridiculous number of Gith between them and their objective of saving their plane of existence? Very much yes. Do our adventurers once again casually saunter towards an encounter that should certainly be their doom? With a bit of creative spell work, and a hefty pinch of luck, our adventurers have somehow survived their encounter with a significant baddie. Justifiably, the party is taking some time to bask in the glory and pat themselves on the back. Their celebration is quickly squashed however by the mindflayer Lililith, their apparent patron, who informs them that much worse is coming their way. Lililith begins to connect a series of dots for our adventurers. Seemingly unrelated events they've experienced may all be part of a much larger picture. It's the Trial of the Body, which it turns out is a very serious fight! Judging by all the skeletons littering this cave, the Trial has not gone well for a lot of previous adventurers!   So just what is it that the mindflayer Lililith expects them to battle? Well we don't want to say too much to avoid spoiling things. Unless of course you listened to the previous episode. Then you know. But if you haven't and you're still reading this you at least deserve a strong hint! Let's just say the game isn't called Dungeons & Kitties. The final arc of season 1 begins! The party is reunited with their always shiny friend Fergus and his mindflayer boss, who we now know is named Lillilith. That's just hard to say. It makes sense that Fergus calls him Lilly! The Lilster and Fergus have whisked away our adventurers to a massive cave for The Trial of the Body, which sounds like it is going to involve way too much cardio. And it is cold in this cave! Exercising in the cold is one of their least favorite things! Will Rath be forced to reveal one of his most prominent secrets? How will Kort use their subterranean surroundings to their advantage? With Kort's disguise blown, it's time to take the fight to Braddock. Namee, who is in elk form, with Blag riding on his back, is charging in head first to introduce himself to the baddie. Can you say he's at ramming speed if he's an elk? When it comes to being a druid, you could say that Namee is at the head of his class. He's really using his head for this one. Someone should give Braddock a heads up about what's heading his way. But here we are making all these bad head puns while Kort is about to give his old rival the finger. Will Braddock be knocked head over heels by our adventurers? Will Namee also be knocked head over heels by a new discovery? There's only so many of these puns to work with folks! So Namee, with the best of intentions, accidentally led our adventurers into a confrontation with some Thieves Guild guards. But really, it's not his fault. He wanted to honor a fallen friend by doing a little cleaning. How could he have known an unused temple was actually a hidden entrance for a band of scoundrels? If anything, this is on the thieves. Thanks to Jade's warning, at least the party knows the mess they've stumbled into. And yes, they may have done some snake attacks, and shot a guy in the face with magic. But that's besides the point! Having survived the last round of traps mostly unscathed, but definitely worse for the wear, our adventurers continue to push into the heart of the pyramid. As they enter the first chamber, it quickly becomes clear that they've entered the puzzle phase of their exploration.   They should have no problems with that of course. After what is probably their weirdest getaway yet, our adventurers return to Jade's hideout for a post heist debrief. She informs them there is still much thieving to be done in order assist her with a special mission that is of particular interest to both Kort and Rath. Their next step? Steal a very sought-after treasure from a pyramid. Good thing that old fear about pyramids having traps and curses is just a myth, right? So, it turns out the pyramid is full of traps and curses. Also the entrance is strewn with the bones of others who came before them attempting to nab the treasure. All ominous signs that would make reasonable people reconsider their next steps. Having bungled their way into a secure complex, our adventurers continue to follow Jade's directions as she guides them through what has clearly become a heist. What are her goals there? It's a rough time for our adventurers who are still reeling from the loss of one of their own. Thankfully, there is a beacon of hope in the darkness. And it's a gnome dressed in a penguin's skin. It sounds less beacon of hope-like when you put it that way. Regardless, Namee has warmed the hearts of his new party members. Notice how we're saying his party members. Because it's his party now.
