Before there was a Marvel Cinematic Universe that launched with 2008's Iron Man, there was almost a different Iron Man there was almost a different Iron Man. It's hard to imagine a version of Iron Man without Robert Downey Jr. but it's a reality we almost could have had. This version of the story differs quite a lot from the version we know today, but would it have made a good movie? Would we have gotten an Avengers movie with a Toby Maguire Spider-Man?
